No one is going to pay anything for DL.

That's why University of Iowa, Ohio State, Oberlin, etc. are all having in person classes.

People will, however, pay $80k a year for an ivy diploma.


+100 the Education is the same. They’re paying for personal branding/marketing rights. One if two off years in the actual experience is inconsequential. If my kids were heading to business/finance/consulting/sales (ie fields where grad school isn’t necessary) I would totally pay for the brand too.

Sorry, my mistake. I get mixed up. Obviously I don’t go there or have any direct affiliation. A friend sent me the letter as her kid is going. My kid is going to a different university

College dorm environment is the perfect environment for the virus to spread. The virus does not distinguish between ivy league or anywhere else.


Ivy League kids are smart enough to be strict with precautions and limit the spread.


Professional athletes are anal when it comes to health - from morning to the time they go to sleep. Yet, we see virus 🦠 Knocking out these pro athletes left and right. So imagine non-athletes. Ivy kids maybe smart - yet, they still think with their hormones.

Look at what NYU prof Scott Galloway is saying these days about colleges. Those that are pushing students to get on campus are likely doing so (unfortunately) for financial concerns. If they had said online was the only way forward many many students would have balked at paying (rightly so) for a subpar experience.


My prof friends said the same earlier this summer, and people poo-pooed the idea. These decisions are so financially rough on families. I hope they have trip insurance for flights / refundable tix.

Hijacking a Little, sorry. OP, how did your ‘24 graduate choose Penn? Where else did he look? My DD thinks she likes the look of it but then I read on here about how competitive kids are with each other and I get a little nervous. Of course she might not even get in, but just curious. TIA
