I don't care if my kids are tall. In fact they probably won't be, I'm 5'3" and my husband is 5'8". I want healthy happy kids, that's pretty much it. I find them to be beautiful exactly as they are.

Both men and women? I think short women do just fine in the dating department. Agree that height tends to be an advantage for men.

Also, short people have longer life expectancies on average.

I’m a tall woman (over 5’8) and I want my kids to be tall for silly reasons. My husband is basically exactly my height so it may not happen, but I still hope so.

i've read it somewhere going to bed early/not staying up late during growth years makes a not insignificant difference.

I totally don't care. Their health, intelligence and education is far more important to us as parents. It is something that we can control and make a difference.

Double-standard - I'd like my son to be taller (his father is over 6', as is most of his family). I'm less concerned for my daughter, though I'd like her to be a height that fits into average size ranges and doesn't require tailoring for every clothing purchase she makes or having her shopping in the juniors department as a 40-year-old.

I’m 4”11 and DH is 5”5, so I don’t waste time wishing for my kids to be tall. I don’t deny the advantages that come with being tall but I suppose it’s a competition just like everything else on here.

Nope - I never had a wish for my kids to be a certain height. Their genetics dictated that they would likely be a little short to average. Sure enough, DD is 5'2 or 5'3 and DS is 5'9 or 5'10. Neither has ever expressed any feelings one way or the other about their height.

I can't imagine giving a son the idea that he is some sort of failure if he's not 6'2, but I guess this is why we see threads on here with people trying to give their average sized kids growth hormones.

I’m 5’10”, my daughter is 12 and already 5’8”. I think it’s great. She gets tired of people constantly commenting on her height, but I think she’ll love it in the long run.

Yes! I’m 5’9 and my husband is 6’4 definitely feel our height has been advantageous. My daughter is 5’9 and still likely growing and my son is 6’2 and may be still growing.

My husband is 6’0 and I hope my sons are that tall.

It’s good for men to be tall.
