We have duralex (or at least they are knock offs?). I think I got them at World Market a few years ago. We had too many big huge glasses, and I just needed a set of smaller ones.

World market and Williams Sonoma carry the picardi line, which OP doesn’t want. But Duralex is tempered glass and has other styles

I use coffee mugs for pretty much everything now. So much sturdier, especially with kids.

Anyway, my SIL and I have the Honey Tall Tumblers linked below and the weight and hand feel is great. They can look casual or a bit dressed up depending on the setting. The outside is smooth, as the shaped texture is in the interior. And the tapered shape feels perfect in the hand. We have the short ones too and they are great for cocktails or kids milk.

I have these and I like them a lot! I like that they are a "normal" size...a lot of drinkwear is huge these days. You can get bees and fleur-de-lis.

The ones that look like this have been great. I've had them for 15 years (maybe more):


The ones that look like the glass on the left of this picture have not stood up as well. The rims are more delicate.

Look for heavy-bottom pint glasses. We have a bunch and they rarely break.
