No question: get a babysitter but increase her hours.

There are no true “strong precautions” if one child or teacher or parent is completely asymptomatic and spreads covid to your child and your child spreads it to the rest of your family.

Your hours for a part-time sitter are actually good. Look for a nanny who is strict about safety precautions and done work at 3 or 4.

Many households have one or more parents now working out of the home. Not everyone can work from home for a year and not everyone who can work at home can watch young children at the same time. Not everyone can afford a nanny either. It’s pretty terrible you’d write that given that some people don’t have a choice.

So tired of the posters on these types of threads who all seem to think everyone can afford a nanny. That isn't the reality for the vast majority of families in this country.
My kids are in daycare. I really wish they weren't right now, but we were out of options.
