Average private school teacher salary is around $30,000 a year. I think they have to pay less than public school because the class size is much smaller.

How much do the public schools pay for placement at a SN school? How do you find this out?

At a school like Auburn they would have to get special approval because they don’t usually contract with them. They would pay Auburn’s list price. With the schools they normally contract with (for example, Phillips, Kellar School, Frost), they have a contract with each school specifying the daily rate. Most schools are in the $200-300/day range.

Not sure how that will work out unless they lost as many students as teachers. Sounds like it’s DL all year.

I recently spoke with a current parent and it sounds like Auburn is doing DL and combining all of their resources of Maryland and VA school for this year. Hopefully that will at least give them some time to sort things out in VA.

For some reason the Silver Spring jobs pay more than the Fairfax ones.

(Aside, also saw a job posting from Accotink Academy wanting to pay an elementary teacher $17 an hour!! What on earth. The school systems pay them hundreds of dollars per day per child. )

Job ads for director of admissions, head of school, art teacher , curriculum specialist, middle school teachers (2-4! in august!), upper school teacher, "middle and high school teacher", aides, elementary classroom teachers, special ed middle and high school math and science teacher (LOL), and a speech pathologist. These are all just openings in the Fairfax school. Tons of open jobs in Silver Spring too.

The school is not that big! Is there anyone left? How are they starting the school year with no teachers?

All the teacher job ads are paying $40-$55k. Did Auburn pay so poorly? That seems low.

There are lots of special ed teachers who often say to each other, "If only we could open our own school and run it to meet the needs of the students." Too bad we are not related to millionaires.
