My daughter’s daycare in Chantilly just reopened after being closed for two weeks. Teacher and child at school both had Covid. This has happened TWICE! I LOVE the school but am having to find care in my home right now. It was next to impossible as an essential worker to piece together child care during the time in which the school was closed. We obviously had no notice this was going to happen although we knew it could happen. I pull very long shifts at Children’s in DC.

My son's class is closed now for a child exhibiting "a symptom that excludes attendance." That list is about the same as it was pre-COVID, with the addition of lost of taste and/or smell.

So yes, they will close at least that classroom anytime someone has symptoms of a GI virus, cold, or flu, and since it takes so long to get test results, just assume it will be a two-week closure. I understand why, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating. Frustration at the testing situation, not at the center.

I work at a center where they claim they will be able to shut down by class if there is an exposure, but all 20 teachers share the same two bathroom stalls and the kids use the same playgrounds and indoor playroom.

I'm not the pp but we had a case in our center in a child. Only that classroom was closed for 2 weeks.

The children share a playground but honestly mainly go for walks. The groups use the playground one at a time and it is cleaned in between groups. Same with one shared bathroom that 2 of the groups share.
Teachers share 2 bathrooms.
Teachers only have socially-distanced (6 ft) contact with other teachers and wear masks at all times.

Anyway, there have been no more cases.
