I actually think in both settings, the biggest risk point is parents at pick-up and drop off. Are they coming in and chatting at the inhome? Or does she insist they do it quickly and not come in and come at staggered times?


At our in-home she doesn't have strict rules, but in practice parents who do chat do so outdoors and at a distance.

Any daycare is a calculated risk, and the biggest risk is the hours spent indoors together with other children and adults.

The in home isn't really as strict with masks, cleaning, etc. but they have 4 families and the workers. "Academics" clearly better at the preschool but the in home really is an extension of our family and son loves his caregivers and classmates, who he has been with since he was a baby.

We could probably attend either place this fall. What would you do?

Cleaning doesn't do much for Covid which spreads through droplets or aerosols in the air. It does prevent other types of illnesses which is why it's not a good idea to send your child to a daycare that doesn't get cleaned.

I generally agree with this but I think there are exceptions. Our center isn’t open yet but I trust them. There are other centers I wouldn’t trust.
