This coming/rising 5th key cohort is already down to 30 from around 78 at the grade cohort Height, and at least 5-10 not going to hardy - but this grade could be an anomaly. The leaving 5th grade class this year going to hardy is much larger.

We are a Murch family and we are not going to Deal. I don't think you could possibly know how many families are going elsewhere.

While it could be a case of self fulfilling prophecy, We have been very happy in the Whitman cluster and if we had to do it over we would have moved sooner.

My child is not happy to be leaving Mann before 5th. This was not an easy decision and was made more for our family reasons than anything with Mann/Hardy.

If you look at the enrollment data year over year, you will see that typically the Janney class starts to decline by a few after 3rd grade.
The drop from 4th to 5th is 5-6 students a year. These are a combination of going to privates, charters, family moves.
class size 105 for 4th became 99 for 5th
class size 119 for 4th became 113 for 5th
It just seems like it’s impossible to draw any real conclusions from this.
First, if you assume they are all returning students then 94% return. That seems good to me but you also don’t know how that compares to other schools.
But second, and much bigger issue, you have no idea what the waterfall looks like. It’s also possible 50 students left and 50 entirely new students moved in. Unlikely, but absent that info it’s impossible to conclude how many students left.
Third, you don’t know the reason for leaving or how it’s distributed. DC is transient and people leave the state frequently for posts to other countries etc. It may be that it has a higher propensity for this than the average in other states.
Basically you don’t have anywhere near enough info to draw any conclusion at all here.
