"Commutable" is a very subjective term. I have several neighbors who commute into DC. They typically carpool or take the commuter buses and shift hours so they leave early.
Certainly Fridays in the summer is a nightmare. DH and I both were able to negotiate working from home those days (in the before-times, obviously)
It's certainly no worse than Severna Park. Anything east of the Severn River has to deal with nightmare beach traffic.


Agree--I don't think Severna Park is commutable either.

Harbor Hills is very kid friendly and all of the kids all ride their bikes to friends homes and also to the community pool in the summer. And the parents are VERY social as well. In normal times, there are Friday night BBQs at the Clubhouse and the neighborhood organizes lots of events for the kids. Eagles Passages has a similar vibe as well.

We went and looked at the 1.1m house and saw a flock of kids riding on a golf cart and riding bikes (maybe 5-7kids) so it seems like they definitely hang out inside the neighborhood. I’m sure your kids will have friends outside the neighborhood too but it seems like they’re also doing what you’re looking for...

(The 1.1 is lovely but not for us).


Thanks. That looks like a really nice house, and I'm intrigued. What about it did not work for you? Maybe I should take this to the real estate forum....

South River does too.

I live out here but I use a private school for my biracial kids. Things out here are getting better and more liberal all the time. Some sweet high schoolers set up a tiny BLM protest on Riva Rd and were received positively. But if I had a 14 yr old black or biracial child off to school this fall I wouldn’t use either high school.

Have you looked at Davidsonville? It's a wonderful, family friendly town with a decent elementary school (Davidsonville Elementary). It feeds into Central Middle and South River. Harbor Hills is a great neighborhood to consider - very family friendly with a pool and marina.
