Forgot to mention our base school is a center. Wonder if that helped him get in (not changing schools)?

DC didn't get in:
COGAT 136 (Quantitative 139)
NNAT 135
WISC 132 (VCI 136)
We submitted the WISC, work samples and recommendation letter.
We are honored to be in the same company as some of the other rejection cases that we're seeing here.

My son got in with only work samples. He had perfect GBRS and in-pool CoGat due to 143 verbal (quantitative was average).

I’m so sorry to everyone who got insanely high WISCs rejected. That doesn’t seem fair at all.

DS got in. No WISC but submitted couple of work samples, awards and math contest scores. Also submitted a letter on why he deserves to be in AAP highlighting academic strengths and abilities through examples. COGAT was just above cutoff with high quant, low verbal and NNAT was below cutoff. GBRS was 4C with a page and half of comments.

We and his teachers were surprised that he did not get in initially.

DD got in with no new scores. We submitted the parent questionnaire and some work samples. We didn't submit anything the with the initial application. She was in pool, but not terribly high. 135 quantitative on the cogat, with a 131 composite. If I recall correctly, nnat was 118. GRBRS were 3C, 1F with excellent commentary.


DS did not get in with similar package. Cogat 134 quantitative, Composite 131, NNAT 128, GBRS 2C 2F, no WISC, not in with Letter, questionnaire and work samples. Zip 22066.


I’m the pp you quoted. Our zipcode is 22101. Haycock is the center school but DD is staying local. Sorry your DS did not get in. This process is subjective and it appears there is no rhyme or reason to these decisions.

I am just in shock at the moment, so haven't considered anything. Honestly, my daughter should have been admitted the first round and we thought it was a mistake. But now, I don't know what is going on. We also have an older kid in the full-time program, so we have a sense of the process and believe that the full-time AAP will serve my daughter well. Yikes.

100% our school already has 34 kids in the one AAP class for 4th. Remaining kids are broken out in 3 other “groups” and class sizes are much smaller. Entire class size is ~98. Not equitable across the county!

I would ask to speak with someone in the AAP office because this has to be a mistake.

Are all of you zoned for really crowded/big centers?
