This. Masks make so many people easier to look at.

She's backed herself into a corner here. I cannot wait for the reaction when she announces distance learning tomorrow while keeping indoor bars, gyms and churches open.

Never mind, she made the announcement to keep schools closed while keeping coronavirus-spreading events open today.

But at 10:30, DH & I we’re outside with our 4 year old for about 10 minutes while she was trying out her new bike + training wheels. We didn’t have our masks because we were going back and front on the sidewalk in front of our house, an can (and do) easily step into the grass to distance if someone passes.

Well, we were actually about to head home for them to get masks to go around the block, when the crazy lady from down the block walked by. (I don’t mean that to be derogatory. When she is lucid she can be very friendly but she is often not lucid and/or drunk and she can be angry and unpredictable.)

Anyway, she had her mask under her chin, per usual. We stepped into the grass to let her pass. She walked by, and as she passed started coughing, without covering her mouth at all. We stepped into the street and watched her cough (and spit onto the sidewalk) repeatedly as she passed our house and continued on to her house. We waited in the road with our 4 year old and her bike for a couple of minutes, then walked home in the street. We had to cross the sidewalk to get to our house, and agreed that I guess it’s masks for all 3 of us all the time now. Because who knows when the crazy lady just walked by coughing and spitting without covering her mouth.

I feel like we’ve been middle of the road about masks up to this point. We almost always have them, but only pull them up when passing someone or if we can’t step away. But we’ll have no problem complying with this new rule now. That was just scary this morning.

Unless your crazy neighbor wears a mask it won't matter. Your mask isn't going to fully protect you if she is coughing close to you.

Bingo.

You wearing a mask will protect your crazy neighbor from your germs. It won’t do squat to protect you from hers.

This is not true. Stop spreading this ignorance and do your research. There is protection on both ends. This old falsehood was spread back before it was realized masks were beneficial for both parties. Check the link to the filters above. There are masks that filter the virus for the wearer.

You think a cotton mask will stop a airborne virus particle? (I don’t mean a aerosolized droplet of saliva - I mean free floating viral sheds)

That mask will stop them like a chain link fence stops mosquitoes

Ummm yes, will decrease the amount of viral load person gets exposed to. Unless they are wearing a facemask made of fishnet stockings (as per your chain link fence analogy.)

You really don’t have a friggin clue how small a virus is, do you?

No. You don’t.

The worst part is, she probably thinks she's showing good leadership here.

She the queen of empty platitudes and meaningless political action.

Well, we were constantly told the virus was able to distinguish between BLM protesters, and people watching fireworks, fishing, or getting a haircut, and infect all of those except the protesters ... so is it any surprise it would be able to avoid elected dems?

Now Bowser orders that anyone who travels to a high-risk area must self-quarantine for 14 days after returning. Maryland and Virginia are not included (so you could visit Ocean City, where cases have increased 190 percent this month, and not have to quarantine).

Indoor dining and gyms remain open, though she warned that might have to be rolled back. I'll believe it when I see it. Instead of doing things that will get us back on track, Bowser is twiddling her thumbs with these nonsensical edicts.
