2 and under shouldn’t even wear a mask because it can be dangerous and restrict their breathing. But Northam only mandated mask wearing inside for ages 10+.

Yes, all my kids wear masks if we go to a store including my 3yo.

They don’t go to stores though. I would not be taking my 3yo to Barnes and nobles for leisure at this time.

In Maryland, it’s required for ages 10-plus
It’s advised for ages 2-9

In our stores in MoCo, I see almost all kids masked inside except babies, but I rarely see someone bringing babies to stores. And far fewer kids.

I have only seen one flagrant violation of the mask and space rule in stores. There was like a group “GET OUUTTT” that rippled through the store. Our zip code has been harder hit, and I think there are also cultural differences that encourage mask-wearing vs. other areas.

There is no need for any of you to bring your kids to the bookstore.

If you can’t afford books; library is open and has curbside pickup.

If you want to peruse books, Amazon has them all with pageview sampling.

There is no rule mandating children under 10 wear a mask indoors in Virginia.

Maybe you should try curbside pickup/online ordering. It’s not like a grocery store or doctors office and you just *needed* to be in a bookstore with your kid.

Why are any of you taking kids into a bookstore? And for kids I would be reluctant to complain- they may have special needs or some other disqualifying factor for mask wearing.

I am really not liking how many adults are turning into rule enforcers. We work hard to teach kids this isn’t their job at school. Leave it to the teacher.

And if you are so immune compromised that a 5year old without a mask is a huge risk for you, then you should really order online.

They should have on mask if thst is the policy of the store. Many stores have policies that exceed the guidance in the order. Just like stores that require people to wear clothes a store can require people to wear masks to be a customer. Just as a store can say we refuse service with a mask. If you are that worried, why have your kid in the store in the first place?

You cant control others and their risk level may be different than yours. You really shouldnt judge, just accept and move on. I see people driving alone in their car with a mask on and i initially inwas baffled. My husband does the stupid act of pulling his mask down below his nose. I think its dumb and he might as well not wear one.

I personally wear a mask and practice social distancing. I keep my kids at home. I know people who refuse to wear a mask at all. In the end we shouldn't judge peoples decisions.

If they are above a certain age, they are supposed to be wearing a mask. I won't get into the wisdom of taking the entire family to an indoor bookstore.

I do wonder about kids touching their faces, masks, etc. agree with the pp there that if the mask can't be worn and removed at least semi-properly and encourages face-touching it may be more of a problem than not wearing one.

If they are over 10, then yes, you can be annoyed. Under 10? You are being a PITA. If you can't tolerate being around other unmasked children, you should probably not take your 5 year old to the bookstore.

Northam requires kids ages 10+ to wear masks in buildings. Anyone under 10 does not have to. Leave them alone.

Yes, of course kids need to wear masks in any indoor space and some outdoor spaces too if a lot of people are present. Any kid over age 2 should wear a mask. But on the other hand, why do you need to take your kid to a bookstore right now anyway? Ideally, no one should be going to indoor enclosed areas unless necessary and a book store is not necessary.
