Honestly I’d go to the store tonight if you can. Last time the real panic buying (when the shelves were completely bare, before it was just tp we couldn’t find) happened after schools shut down. The governor is probably going to close them down for sure tomorrow thanks to orange county voting for kids to go back without masks or social distancing. I feel like lockdown 2.0 is just around the corner. I wasn’t prepared last time and I regret that. It caused me so much unnecessary stress!

Ugh....not looking forward to the stressful grocery shopping experiences again. I enjoyed the “relaxed but masked” phase.

I already did a big shop for Tylenol, cold and flu meds, emergenC etc because for sure those will be gone. Also trying to find a pulse oxygenator that isn’t terrible quality.

People are panic buying again. I went to trader joes the day California got more restrictions (Monday, I think?) and half the freezer was empty and things like pasta and rice were half gone. I’m doing a big Walmart pick up this weekend. I’m on a budget and can’t afford to pay extra just because the only cheese available after hoarding is $11. I’m going to make vegetable soup and freeze it, because I really don’t like frozen or canned vegetables, so at least I’ll have some kind of veggies if everything is hoarded again. My freezer is so full already. I’m so tired of this!

I was preparing early due to this board in fact (I'm another one in LA but frequenting a DC site - I wish LA had it's own version of this entire board and not just this subform).

At any rate, I heard from friends that people are in fact panic buying again. I have a small overrun of dry goods/snacks but I hope it doesn't turn into March where we couldn't get an Instacart appointment unless we kept checking and checking and one would pop in and we'd have to grab it. I'm not shopping myself right now.

I bought a box of sixty (yes, 6-0) rolls of good toilet paper, not the crappy 1-ply no pun, from Amazon right after things started to restock so we're good there.

I wish I could find antibacterial wipes - I've heard you can only get them if you actually go out and shop vs. the delivery services. I don't know that I'm mentally ready to deal with Target for one cylinder of wipes but I may have to.

We should all be preparing, OP.

1. Medication: 3 month supply of your chronic med if applicable, then Tylenol and rehydration salts.

2. PPE: masks, gloves.

3. Sanitizing: gel and wipes.

4. Paper products: toilet paper and kitchen towels.

5. Food: pantry staples, dry goods.

Op here- I’m actually super comforted to see people aren’t hoarding. I just made myself a pantry which I never had before and bought enough to last for a bit in case all the food went away again. Hopefully for lockdown2.0 which is coming soon I’m sure, food will still be around!

They already know the won’t burst into flames if they need to go to the store
So it will be much, much harder to get people to stay home now

agreed. Dh has always said you get one chance at making the lockdown work. After that, you can't do it again and expect the same level of compliance.

Definitely agree with this. No one in LA seems to care and it’s so bizarre seeing all the people walking without masks. If you’re outside maskless in Wyoming where it’s spread okay, okay fine but in LA? We are required to wear them outside and people still don’t!!! So many people outside on the streets maskless who don’t give a F.
