Lottery your kids into the same school? Go to you IB DCPS they would be on a similar schedule.

I would think Bridges has a very different situation happening. They have e a good number of higher level IEP kids. It seems like some schools might be opening for in-person IEP, 504, and higher risk students. Given their higher numbers of advanced needs it will be interesting to see what happens.



Bridges parent here, we've received a survey with different options to choose from. 2 days a week mon-tues, 2 days a week thurs-fri, or 100% distance learning. Not sure what the plan is if majority of the parents choose the same 2 days. I personally have yet to fill out the survey. I think if it's not safe to go to school (as far as covid is concerned) 5 days a week then why are they going at all. BUT I have younger child who would benefit more from being in school even if it is just the 2 days as she does not really like the virtual school. No word yet on what either of these schedules would look like for iep students, I have an older child with an iep as well.


I am wondering what IEP services will look like and how it will balance the school day. Are they basically going to be in a self contained class room catching up?? Are they going to be exposed to a bunch of provider or will speech, or etc be virtual at school with a sped teacher over seeing??
DL IEP related lessons are NOT working. We can do the reading and worksheets, math etc. Working on those harder skills and IEP goals and special services not so much

I heard (from a principal) that the mayor would likely make an announcement next week. But I agree with the pp that whatever they say may well change before school starts.

Breakthrough has a call scheduled for 7/13 at 3pm. They followed DCPS by shortening the year. I suspect they will have a combo, but class sizes are large in Montessori, so we will see.

No, once flu season hits all bets are off for when we get back into the actual school buildings


Ramping up meaning a few Aug/Sept weeks. Then semi in school until end of Oct, then DL ....
