Just curious, for the people who don't let their teens keep their phones in their rooms, what do they do for alarms? I teach HS and at least 95% of my students say they use phone alarms. Please don't tell me you are still waking your kids up at their ages!

TikTok is not allowed, I did some research and consensus seems to say age 13 is when they can start watching it.
She also doesnt take electronics to bed. She can read for 45 mins and then turns her light out.

Parenting is all over the place OP. You do what you think is right for your kids.

NP The pandemic has complicated things a bit for me because I have allowed my son to read on the Ipad at night but as soon as the library is fully open that will likely change

So they’ve been bringing iPads to bed since they were 2.5/3 years old, and fall asleep watching shows. So that part didn’t shock me, honestly.

The tik tok at age 7 sort of disturbed me, though. That’s SO young to be exposed to that kind of content.

I can’t say anything to my sister though; I never would!

But you sure do judge her.

How old are your own children?

My first instinct was to judge, yes. But then I thought maybe I was just out of touch with elementary school kids, which is why I asked here. I said in the OP that my kids are 3 and 4.

My teens are not allowed to keep their phones in their room at night. It pisses them off for some reason but I'm firm about it.

Great idea.

My teens also don’t keep their phones in their rooms. They know the rules and are fine with them.

Nope. No phones or iPads at night in kids rooms.

I plan to do the same. I reluctantly bought an iPad for distance learning (Rising 3rd) I heavily limit it. FWIW I have rarely limited tv and he has learned to self regulate but it seems harder with interactive devices based on what I’ve seen in my students and some of my friend’s kids.

My 7 year old definitely doesn’t know what tik tok is. Definitely not falling asleep with an iPad!
