Because Teddy is a horrible name- or nickname- for girl.

I think it’s good to give people options for as they age. A female Teddy is unlikely to go by Ted so Theodora or Theodosia offer lots of options.

Theodosia just makes me think of Hamilton. I really do like Theodora. I worry about it going the way of Roberta (feminine version too strange to use) but don’t think it should so you should use it.

With teddy the first thing that comes to mind is a lingerie garment.

I was just watching Hamilton again last night and thought of how pretty the name Theodosia is and how Thea is a cute nickname. Go for it! Plus it’s a beautiful song.

I prefer Theodora, but I like both! Thea as a nickname, pronounced like Tea, as in Tea Leoni.

I love both of these OP. I have a cousin Theodosia and we've always called her Thea. Named after a grandmother.

Why not just name her Teddy? If there is a reason that holds you back from doing that, for the love of Jesus don’t saddle her with either of those names.

Her name is Theodora.
