Thanks for the heads up.

I know the one where my friend teaches in Fairfax has said the plan is to have a special remote learning on zoom five days a week for I think an hour and half where there will be 'circle time', story time, a lesson of some sort, and a dance or movement time. I think there will also ba a 'sharing' component for the kids to show their 'homework' (ie a craft etc) that they completed at home after 'school'
If all goes well, the plan is to then have small groups meet up at the school playground for a short playtime every other week. The parents must be there, and they and the children must have masks.
She said that this was created with an eye towards getting kids ready for kindergarten, so maybe that's the allure for some parents.

Some of the ones I know of that are planning to open are Greentree, Jerusalem Baptist (although the youngest classes I believe have been cancelled), Adat Reyim, Parkwood Wee Center, Prince of Peace, Silo Center, and Christian Weekday Program at Springfield United Methodist.

I just looked up Prince of Peace in Springfield and their Kindergarten program looks perfect for my 5 year old. But, it appears that it will now be closed for 2020-2021. Such a bummer.

Wow that’s too bad. Last I heard they were planning on opening.

St. Andrew’s in Burke may be open? It’s not too far from Prince of Peace. Westwood Baptist is also in that area and has a preschool, but not sure about a K class.

It really is. Thank you for offering up so many suggestions though, really appreciate it!

St. marks Montessori is planning to open...not sure they’d take new applications at this point though.

Jerusalem Baptist Church isn't too far, but they are currently trying to see if they have enough teachers. I haven't found any others yet.

On no! Can I ask which one?

Columbia in falls church

Wow! I can’t believe this. Is the daycare portion staying open?

I think there are some daycare classes that are still operating, but they have had to lay off some daycare teachers too because the number of children that are still coming is very small. They ended both the morning program and afternoon bilingual program. I’m not sure what happened because the waitlists were always years long.

Many of the half day teachers have elementary aged kids and can’t commit to teaching since their kids will be home with them at least 3 days a week. It really sucks for everyone!

Actually it was a financial decision. Most of the full day kids haven’t returned since they closed in March. Many of the teachers are looking for jobs now. Anywhere would be lucky to have them. Every teacher my kids had there was exceptional.
