Seriously MYOB. You have no actual idea how these people are spending their time, despite rubbernecking their backyards and social media. Calling the OIG over a potentially slacking employee is the most obnoxious shit I’ve ever heard.

It never occurred to me to call the hotline but I really should.

Just because they went to the beach doesn’t mean they’re not working. My SES supervisor has been at a family beach house since late April. He’s on conference calls like 6 hours a day + marks up documents overnight beset every night. Being at the beach just makes it easier for his spouse and kids to keep busy while he works.

My GS-15 DH is working his usual 60 hour weeks since March when his agency began WFH. He said things have been busier than usual.

This is OP. Where do you live? I live near Potomac View, less than 1/2 mile from swan lock road. No, they are working for the Commerce department and no sensitive information. They are bragging how they are collecting GS-15 step 5 salary from uncle sam while doing less than an hour a day work.

I’m a GS-15, working at least 50 hours a week. Last week one of my employees got some terrible personal news about a terminal illness in her family and asked to take leave for the afternoon, I said yes. The next day when I called to check in on her she said she had tried to go on a walk in her neighborhood with her free afternoon but one of her neighbors stopped her and asked her why she wasn’t working, as a federal employee. Maybe MYOB.

Uh huh.

I'm a GS-12 working as much as i can with a baby and a 5 year old home. I usually manage about 32 hours a week of fully focused, undistracted work, which I think is pretty damn good given the childcare issue, but it has to give a little so my husband can try to put in half days at his private sector job where no one's counting or assuming he's lazy.

The few GS-15s above me (we are not a top heavy agency) definitely work more than 40 hours a week.

MY SES fed husband is working about 60 hours a week since March--almost 100% is conference calls.
It's crazy.

If this or the original post are legitimate, call the agency’s IG hotline. They may or may not follow through on it but it is worth a shot. (Says a GS-15 Fed who works 40+ hours per week.)

There are people like that EVERYWHERE. Not just fed.

Obviously a troll post but I think it's fair to say that most of the valuable work in government is done at the GS 9-12 level. These are the people who keep the system moving while barely able to make rent.

OP, you sound like a troll. Doesn’t it exhaust you to whine about Feds all the time (because I am sure you do).

If you aren’t a troll, please consider many Feds work with classified information or in very sensitive systems which you cannot access at home (or anywhere outside the office). They aren’t permitted in the office and cannot do their work at home. So what do you expect people in that situation to do? Our office provided significant training opportunities during the first three months to offset that time, but there is a limit to that.
