I, the mom, used to shower with DS for convenience, but became uncomfortable around his age 3.5. He started commenting on body parts, which I answered factually. However, I am trying to instill that we have private parts (no one gets to touch yours, etc) and so now I will be more private. No shame exactly, and I am ok with DH showering with him - DH is ok with it.

I think it’s “acceptable” but It would be odd for our family. But then again my DH is kinda weird about nudity in general—but dd still showers with me (mom) occasionally and I don’t have any problem being nude in front of her if she’s underfoot when I’m getting ready in the morning.

I shower almost everyday with my 1 year old DD (holding her), and she tries to grab and hit and nurse various body parts of mine, which is okay except when she scratches me with her sharp little fingernails. For that reason, we have not tried and will not try DH showering with her.

That is bizarre to me. And I’m not American. DH bathes and washes DD but the idea of them showering together (or her showering with me) is odd. We are not super pressed for time though.

Yeah, at this age we should be modeling. Modeling that there's nothing wrong with human bodies and that being naked together doesn't mean being sexual. Especially between parent and child. My God, why do so many Americans turn into pedophile fantasists when they become parents? It is DEEPLY disturbing that this is where so many of your minds go.

We are a 2 Mom family with a just turned 8yo DD. Occasionally she will shower with one of us because it’s quicker/easier. I know we’re all the same sex but honestly I thought she wouldn’t want to do it by now but she still likes it. Probably happens once a month on average. OP I think you’re fine.

At that age we should be modeling. Your body is your body. Your bed is your bed. Your privacy is your privacy. Kids should learn showering or being naked with an adult is unusual.

Not op, but we trade off showering with child when we need to get everyone ready for the day. Baths are for lounging or winding down, showers are our go to for washing up. It’s an acquired skill for a young child to be able to properly bathe in a shower. Much faster and less messy to help.

+1 So much easier to put a kids in the shower with me or DH after rolling around in the dirt. Not sure why people think 3 is too old for this.

I'm 32 and I showered with my dad as a kid (under 4). I might remember seeing his penis but mostly i remember bath toys (which were clearly exciting because I guess my parents didn't make a big thing of bathtime).
