I hope it doesn't. Our Mayor and Council suck, which I suppose reflects most of our voting population. We make horrible San Francisco style decisions, and I love it when there is intervention.

Because they wanted taxation without representation.

Conservatives like to criticize.

While in Florida, Republican Ron DeSantis:
- stole his election with GOP voter suppression that Republican Gov Rick Scott participated in.
- fired his COVID data person for telling the truth.
- is presiding over a COVID-19 resurgence.
- took money from Giuliani associates, clear corruption (caught, he returned them).

Florida is a corrupt state run by a corrupt Republican Party and led by a mediocre corrupt bumbler.
And it’s all possible only due to cheating via voter suppression, backed by the GOP SCOTUS.

And it’s just one state turned into a banana republic by Republicans.

DC looks like a model government compared to most red states.

The Founders didn’t plan to disenfranchise a whole city full of people.

Back then, the population was tiny and they wanted a strong federal government.

Which is why the plan today is to split off the residential areas into a new state, and leave the actual federal district to be actual federal facilities.

The only reason this hasn’t happened before now is because of institutional racism: no one cared enough. We should right this historical wrong and make DC a state.

Talk to me when it passes the Senate. Oh wait — it won’t.

When did it pass the House before?
