My mom was the same way OP. It did also get worse as you aged. Next time, just send the card so you won't have to listen to her complain.

OMG. Some of you are too much with the mom and MIL hate. You seriously need therapy.
I went to my cousin's house for lunch on my birthday but she still found the time to send me a text wishing me a Happy Birthday that morning AND she called and left a vm for me where she sang Happy Birthday. I saw her less than 3 hours later!!! I'm pretty low maintenance and I actually kinda hate my birthday but it was nice to be acknowledged and that she was so excited about my birthday.
OP could have taken 10 seconds to send a text. It would have been nice. Or to have the kids call grandma and sing Happy Birthday. Sheesh.
It’s tiresome when people refuse to read. OP said that she CALLED her mom that morning to wish her a happy birthday. She face timed with the kids. Everyone said “happy birthday Grandma! See you tomorrow!”
Then, grandma was still mad she didn’t get a card. Grandma is a brat.

The PP's who called her high maintenance and a brat were right. Sorry OP but it's true. My MIL behaves the same way about birthday cards as well. She once telephoned to confront me about not mailing her a birthday card. She did that once and she never got a card from me again...I handed that job back to my husband where it belonged. She has continued to harass him for cards every year. High maintenance PITA woman.

Read the thread. OP and her kids DID call and FaceTime mom. On a side note, I hate cards. Don’t understand how anyone can like them.
