Cannot do this. You will get smacked upside the head by a judge. And formulas are based on income potential anyway. They will impute income of you deliberately try to get fired.

Income potentials are significantly reduced these days. In case you haven’t heard.

Irrelevant. Stop giving shitty legal “advice.”

Nope. COVID has changed everything.

Why should she fight for full custody? You're advising her to use her child as a pawn to spite her husband? What is wrong with you?

I know. PP seems like a nut job. And if OP fights him for full custody with no basis she will waste a ton of money and look insane herself.

I would be as agreeable as possible and get it done. She will eventually move on so why not start the healing now.

Before getting yourself a lawyer. Ask him if he would like to do marriage counseling with you. If he says no, then get go ahead and get a lawyer. Do not relinquish any child custody at this point.

I have no advice to offer, OP, but a great deal of sympathy. You're in my thoughts, and I hope you are able to make it through this difficult time. I think that your commitment to whatever is in the best interests of your child is laudable. Hugs to you.

And if you both make similar salaries, there’s no way he’d be paying child support either.

He’s being generous.

Depending on where you live the separation may need to be one year because there is a child.

This. If you agree on these things this should minimize legal expenses which can cost tens of thousands of dollars on those fighting for the garden hose.

WTF?

It sounds like the DH is being reasonable. If they have 50/50 custody and similar incomes, OP might not even qualify to receive child support.

If you’re both reasonable, you can probably save a ton on lawyers and just use a mediator. If you push for crazy things like full custody, don’t be surprised if he fights back. The lawyers will be the only ones who win in that situation. I also think it’s interesting that your son chose to stay with his dad instead of joining you on your weekend trip. Could the son be a lot more introverted (like his father) than you’d care to admit? Maybe if 50/50 custody isn’t on the table he would chose to live with his dad instead of OP... Then she’s stuck never seeing her kid and paying child support. Don’t be stupid and don’t try to push your luck.
