9 year old, we split when she was 4. Usually not because it seems to be easier for her to just be where she is and not have the other parent calling. We do calls if she is on vacation with one parent or if there is a holiday or special event. Now that she has a chromebook for school, I send her messages once in a while (for example if i see a really cute dog). I think for kids who need a quick checkin, that's fine, but I wonder about families where the kids are doing long calls with the other parent everyday. To me that is often a sign of an unhealthy level of emotional dependence by the parent.

Ex has always had as much contact as he wanted. We split the custody 50/50, for the most part. Now that she’s a teen, we just let it all go kind of willy-nilly. We mostly stick to the original agreement, but teen is off doing her own thing often. Well, she was before lock down.

DC is at my sister's right now in DC suburbs. I have no reason to interrupt their daily activities. I can see where they are on 360. DC is not a mama's boy or papa's boy. Loves begin in their house with big back yard and doesn't miss either parent.
DC and I used to live with my sister when I went through a divorce. DC is more my sister's kid and has it's own room in their house. Haven't seen DC since end of March.

Okay, you posted this somewhere else in this forum. This is strange. What is going on? Why aren’t you parenting your child during the middle of a pandemic?
