Honestly , people who want to abolish the police are getting their wish by killing MPD by a thousand paper cuts.

This is what happened after the death of Freddie Grey. Predictably in the name of "protests" the elements rioted. Police no longer police. You get what you deserve.

My post got deleted but police are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. The order they preserve is to preserve life, not property.

I am not a LEO or a lawyer, but is this a fact or just your opinion?

Are police not charged with protecting property. I had not idea. That seems short sighted. Though this may explain the indifference to vehicle break ins and auto thefts.

Not saying you made this up, but I'd love a reference.

The national guard and park police, on the other hand, who cleared protesters before curfew so Trump could have a photo op, was a horrific abuse of power.

The mayor is totally ok with the looting. She never would have stopped it. As a trump hating small business owner, I’m actually grateful he stepped in to protect people’s property. It’s not ok to let our city be totally burned and vandalized. Sticking up for the looters really undermines the otherwise noble cause.

+1 In the meantime there are people now without vital medications. People who may be out or close to out of their medicines, and people who don't necessarily have the wherewithal to get to a different pharmacy. Innocent people are being hurt by these a-hole criminals.

Elsewhere, pharmacies have continued dispensing prescriptions despite the front end of the store being looted.

Are you a cop or just a bootlicker?

These scare tactics don’t work. NYPD tried going on “strike” in 2014 and it hilariously backfired as the city improved without them. The mask has slipped off and the general public now sees you for exactly what you are, an extreme right wing paramilitary force. No one believes the “protect and serve” lie anymore.

There was a story on the news yesterday, before the curfew, that said that police were going to do the entire investigation based on social media, public videos and private security cameras. The parson being interviewed claimed that this was an often used DC investigative tactic. They made a claim that the practice had started during inauguration marches and other protests downtown. Police identify suspects on video and use social media as Collaboratory evidence and write our an entire charge and then deliver the warrant to your local PD or in the case of DC to your local District to effect the arrest.

It seems VERY organized for MPD who only has a tiny number of detectives and they don't really investigate anything. They predominately file reports and turn crime over to insurance companies. I'd love to know what unit in MPD is combing social media. For some reason I have no trouble believing MoCoPD when they show their social media analysis, but I have a harder time imagining the same unit within MPD.

I’m so relieved to see some order restored. We can’t just let our beautiful city be vandalized and burned until it looks like a war zone.

It’s not about justice. It’s about more free (expensive) stuff.

NO. It’s about justice for the BLM protestors. It’s about looting for the black AND WHITE criminals. Stop trying to conflate the two.

Anonymous wrote:DC hasn’t enforced the law on years. Speed all you want. Throw your fast food trash everywhere. Run red lights. Drive drunk. Crash into a building or flip over. Smoke weed everywhere. Race ATVs on the sidewalks and on major roads. Sell drugs on any corner. Hire hookers. Assault people. Stab people. Shoot them.

It’s basically all allowed. So is looting! There has been a massive reduction in all types of law enforcement in DC over the last 5-10 years. Now we have The Purge - enjoy!

I would agree. And the one thing you cannot fault DC police for is police violence. They are barely a presence. I wish we had law enforcement in my hometown. Looting, burning, hurting is appalling--as are all the behaviors enumerated above.
