+1 though my office is starting to offer non supervisory 15's and I hope for one of them someday...

I was a GS14 supervisor for about 8 years. IME, it wasn't the worst supervisory job in the agency -- I would say 1 or 2 levels above that was a harder job. But that particular agency had a lot of management layers. I supervised a team of about 4 and like it but eventually left when I worried I would never move up but needed a change. I think the larger number of people you directly supervise can make it a harder job.

Yes, and very soon the max of Gs14/10 is going to come pretty close to GS-15/10 for the DC area. Not worth the trouble.

Pros - bump in pay grade, path to a 15, having some control
over projects/tasks, having a place at the table at some higher level meetings, developing others.

Cons - people can be surprisingly awful and mean when you are their supervisor, you become privy to information about people at work you’d rather not know, you have to deal with a lot of bs from both management and staff, more responsibility.

One of your pros would be a con, at least at my agency. Having a "place at the table at some higher level meetings" is not a good thing. My agency loves meetings, more meetings and even more meetings....lots of talk about work, but not much work.
