FYI if you are looking to be recruited there for golf, skiing, squash, equestrian, or men’s track, field, or cross-country.
It’s astonishing that Brown would eliminate track & field/XC......so much history in the ivies. Very sad.

Nahh you’re wrong about that. Appplied math they are #1. Very high med school acceptance rates and their PLME program is one of the most desirable. Extremely strong in the arts as well, particularly through partnerships with RISD. Their computer science department is legendary with a faculty of 30 for about 40 lucky undergrads. Economics, hard sciences (they have Nobel winner J. Michael Kosterlitz on the faculty), very strong. And while their engineering program isn’t as rigorous as Cornell or Fu, it’s probably stronger than the other ivies.
If they had accepted you, you would know this. Sorry about that.
You are triggered in the way unique to those from lower Ivies.
Anyway, not surprised they are citing back, given their poor track record and lower endowment. They can’t keep up with the others.
“Lower Ivies”. Is there a more infamous phrase? This has been said here hundreds of times: Anyone that uses that phrase is an idiot.

Ummm yes all these fancy sports do. To be good at sports like squash and crew, most students attend expensive prep schools and then do camps they are also extremely expensive. If you aren’t UMC you aren’t getting groomed for these sports.

Bummer. I actually have a child who wanted to be recruited for equestrian, but Brown was not a contender for her academically anyway. Now there will be even fewer slots elsewhere, though.

Perhaps Brown should just narrow it down to sailing and Ultimate Frisbee.
Brown women’s soccer won the Ivy League this year undefeated, and the men’s lax team was a national powerhouse a few years ago (final four team).
Apart from that, the release notes that athletic funding is not being cut - the whole purpose of the initiative is to strengthen other teams. That said, it’s weird that they will be the only Ivy without men’s track/xc.
