I think the name is stupid but a good way to get inspiration that’s more traditional and has some of this mix is to look at the House and Garden UK website. It’s much better than the American magazine sites imo except for AD which is fine but gets a little tiresome. Billionaire Bland, I call it.

I’m a cusp GenX Millennial and I am completely here for Grandmillennial style. I think it’s hard to do well but so beautiful when it is. Better than buying the same Article couch and west elm pillows and succulents that everyone seems to have

This is totally my style and now there’s a name for it. Awesome!

I have to agree that the specific example in OP is a little much with all the lamps. But I enjoy the style more generally.

Wow, that room is incredibly ugly.

The fringey tablecloth, the awful candle sconces, the cheap looking desks, everything. I can’t find one redeeming quality of that room.

It's great to see color and fun after years of streamlined grays but these examples do make me want to sneeze from dust/mold.

I love the Art Deco mirrors in that photo and the rug. I also feel emotionally pulled toward the fringy cloth covered table. The photo, itself, is well-composed and appealing.

I'm not a fan of grandmillenial style, but I think minimalism is overdone and boring. Also not realistic for most of us.


I like good old pottery barn style. Textural, slightly rustic, pretty. Iron, various colors of wood, lots of velvet and cotton and linen.

I like the concept, although this example is over-stylized. There's always dumb tchotches in a stylized photo, because the designers don't have personal stuff to put out for the photo.

I'm Gen X, not millenial, but I've sort of hated the lockstep that everyone must have the same mid-century modern replicas, or that awful grey-tone cheap wood, or painted black or white....it just all looks cheap and blah to me.

I really like a mix of antiques or vintage pieces, mixed in with some weird arty stuff, and bright or light colors. That looks more like a home that I'd like to live in. I think the key with vintage and antique is to keep the look light, and not let it get weighed down with a lot of dark colors or heavy floral patterns. I generally like symmetry, but don't need things to be matchy. The matching end tables in the picture don't bother me, though.

I like the color scheme, but there are just too many lamps and lights in that room. And I don't like the table skirt dragging on the ground. Love the mirrors, though.
