What is this obsession with this, never understood and I'm a teacher. So many others out of work, dead, etc I just think its time to knock this on the head once and for all!

Actually, no. It’s not cheap. Teacher here ... the best gift a parent can give a teacher is a respectful child who has been taught to value his or her education.

I have returned gifts in the past.
You can buy a book for the room, class pizza party (next year), help me laminate things ect. But I won’t accept your gifts. It’s not appropriate.
Teachers are telling posters and they keep asking, I really don't understand why this is! Donate to the school, sponsor a family that lost their job at your school or a non-profit the school is affiliated with! Teachers are employed hundreds of DCP parents are out of work, bring joy to a family at your school and send them a gift card instead! No one knows how next year will be, what teachers have remained, etc and yes teachers deserve to be recognized but not financially necessary, even if coming from place of love, at this time!

They are still being paid. Thousands of others don’t know how they will pay their rent in 8 days.
