Kids will likely only be in the classroom one or two days a week. Smart parents are preparing for this new reality. You will not have school as your childcare. If that doesn’t work for you, it’s time to consider relocating to a more rural part of the US. Or, plan to homeschool.
Which do you prefer, kids staying home by themselves unsafely (or going to work with their parents unsafely), or kids going to school? Those are your choices.
She doesn’t work and therefore this whole situation makes her feel useful again (Honey I couldn’t possibly get a job! What if there’s another pandemic?)
Again with the assumptions. I work.
Sure you do. In that case what is your plan when schools don’t open in the fall as you insist they will not?

I prefer that we didn’t have to deal with this pandemic at all. But here we are. I’m a realist. I’m being proactive in my decisions. I hope I am pleasantly surprised.

This whole school is not childcare argument is so unbelievably insulting to teachers. And you don’t even get that.
I said nothing of the sort. The reality is that working parents depend on schools to keep their children safe while they are at work. It is likely that will not be an option this fall. Stop making baseless assumptions.
