+100 the warm weather will draw people out so we need more restrictions

This is not the problem.
The source is in the nursing homes. That is where a large portion of the deaths is coming from. The most new cases are coming from the Hispanic community. Keeping people in quarantine in close quarters is likely part of the problem. Multiple families sharing apartments would be better off outside in the fresh air. Check out the statistics --the percentage of new cases in the Hispanic community is going up daily. Hispanics are less than 17% of our population, yet almost 60% of the cases in Fairfax County.
Stricter restrictions will only affect the people currently observing the rules. I doubt that it is spreading through takeout.
Open up. If PP wants to stay home and keep her kids in the house, she is welcome to do so.
I’ve been a Northam supporter for the most part and a bit left (but not way left) and the though of fining families for letting kids play with neighbors does not sit well.
I support the phases for opening but think the state should all enter it at the same time.

I completely disagree. Our percentage of new cases compared to the total number have been trending downward. The percentage of positives to number of test has also been trending downward.
I’m disappointed that the governor just last Monday sent a message of moving forward as one commonwealth. See the transcript below. If the entire state isn’t ready for Phase 1, then we shouldn’t.
Ralph Northam: (20:54)
The question I believe from Alan Suderman was regarding the regional approach and whether some areas of Virginia could be open prior to others. A couple of comments I would make Alan. We have had a great group of business leaders across Virginia, some of whom are from rural areas and the overwhelming advice coming from them is to do this as a Commonwealth rather than by region. Well, I’ll give you one example and I’ve told you this before. If we open certain areas of the Commonwealth and close others, people from the closed areas may travel, probably will travel to the open areas and not only bring new cases from hotspots if you will in Virginia, but also potentially bring in cases from other states. And so we don’t want that to happen. The other thing that we would be doing, we would be picking winners and losers in Virginia and something that has been very important to me as the governor is to see Virginia as a Commonwealth.
Ralph Northam: (22:12)
Perhaps some people have made more sacrifices than others, but we have all sacrificed and when we made the decision to close down, to have the stay at home order, I did this as a Commonwealth. And when we reopen, when we go into phase one, I want to do that as a Commonwealth as well. Because one of the things that I have seen which I commend Virginia, this has brought Virginians together. What I worry about if we do one region open rather than another, it just is a tremendous potential for more division. And the last thing that we need in this state, the last thing we need in this country right now is division.

Anonymous wrote:I think it’s DC driving these delays. Maryland announced similar plans to reopen but MoCo (and maybe PGC?) aren’t going to reopen. It’s sad especially as the “phase 1” plans are moderate and sensible, and delays throw the Northern VA and MD counties out of sync with the rest of the states.
