Neither NMSF nor NMF are an advantage for admissions. The admissions bump is about a student's SAT/ACT score.
Just try getting into a selective college with a 223 PSAT selection index and even a 1490 SAT score.
Some schools collect NMF so they offer extra merit aid to NMF but that is AFTER admissions.

I don't understand the point of PSAT when a SAT score is available. Schools look at your SAT score. No school requires your PSAT score.
The psat can’t be superscored, etc so it is a good indicator of raw abilities. Not a lot of kids prep for it. At my DCs hs, every single student present that day takes it, so it can identify talented underserved students. A good bunch of schools give full rides+ stipends for it
