#1. I tried working at my parents house while they help with the kids during this whole thing - didn't work as well as I had expected. The kids did much better on their home turf with all of their stuff to play with. Nanny will be able to take them on (safe) outings better than you will be while working. Plus a pool with a 2 yr old w/unreliable supervision? Recipe for disaster.

2 year old, in the woods or around the pool while you work the whole time? So, starting at the pool while locked inside? How much are you working per day?

2 and maybe find a teenager who wants to come spend the summer at a beach house for super cheap or ask around for family options. I have a 12 year old who would probably do something like that for a month for free for family.

Number 2 sounds like a nightmare to me. I would stay home and hire a nanny.

depending on what will be open by the Summer. If things start opening up, it might less stressful and $$$ for you to stay home, and have your usual babysitter take kids out to pools, playgrounds, parks, etc while you work with your husband, and / or you and your husband could work in shifts and deal with kids with the help of nanny.

I faced the same decision OP and ultimately I realized what I really needed was childcare. Not a pool or yard. Stay or go or whatever but do what you need to to have childcare.

Reliable trustworthy childcare is better than more space.

The unknown of how to get your groceries, other supplies, and potential issues getting sick should come in to play for #2 as well.

I am choosing 2, but will be staying with my parents so we have some help during the day. First option seems really bad for the kids

Option 1 is not bad for the DCs. Stay in their home and go outside with nanny. How is this bad? The 2 year old is likely napping several hours a day as well. Option 2 where the parents are frazzled trying to work and watch DCs seems far worse for the DCs as it’s not quality time.
