Why do you say that?
Our numbers have not gone down significantly at all, because there are still too many people out and about, covered under the "essential" exception.
And since there is no treatment and no vaccine, a month from now, nothing will have changed at all.
So either you say "the heck with it" and open, with a ton of deaths, or you say "same old same old let's continue staying in place", or alternate the two (which will likely happen)... until the vaccine is distributed.
Time will not make this magically go away. This is my point.

This would lift strict stay-at-home orders and start to allow some flexibility around movement, outdoors activities and businesses that can operate with strict distancing rules. He has been talking about looking for a plateau in hospitalizations for weeks now. A neighbor started a job at one of the testing labs doing data entry, and he said a lot of tests are coming in, so the test everyone in nursing homes with cases has been implemented. I think they will announced distance learning for the rest of the year for schools, and that Hogan is aiming for June 1 for stage 1, even if he doesn't say it yet. (I think he'll wait until after Memorial Day, so that people aren't ridiculous right away with gatherings.)
June 1st, that is ridiculously large for stage 1. Not going to fly.
Ridiculously late, the hospitals are ready to go with elective surgeries that have already been postponed for two months.
Agreed. If Maryland doesn't start stage 1 by June 1st there will be a major revolt. I trust Gov. Hogan will do the right thing and open by June 1st - if not before.
June 1st seems pretty reasonable to me to start the re-opening. A month from now, we will be in a way better place.

It's too bad about math education. It's really left some people unable to understand numbers.
History education left out the definition of a pandemic and that left a lot of people unable to comprehend what is happening.

Anonymous wrote:I’m hearing stage 1 earlier. The trend has been going down or relative plateau on key metrics for MD for past few days (Tuesday is always a blip due to weekend reporting) Cases are NOT the metric for stage 1 for MD since they are increasing testing by definition cases rise especially with universal testing at nursing homes. ICU, hospitalizations and deaths are key metrics
Agree likely distance learning for rest of year.
