Is that true even in expansion years (9 a side to 11)? I was really surprised at a few of the kids who were promoted along with my son. They lacked aggression and also missed tons of practices and games.

Haven't heard anything yet about travel and have one child on a red team and another on a black team. I was told that some of the ECNL teams were being told that the plan is for the roster to essentially stay the same with the possibility of additions later Summer or early Fall if tryouts are possible.

This is us, too. We can afford to eat $200 if fall rec gets canceled, but not $2000/ x 2 kids. I think one of my two might enjoy rec more anyway, if he can get on a team with school friends.

Which is sort of odd, because it was apparent that some kids were in the wrong place - especially players new to Alexandria who were often put on too weak a team. But there isn't room on the team above unless people quit or move down.

So essentially, you have some time to see how things go. Unless you want to save $300 bucks and you pay it all up front which would be dumb considering the unknowns.

The coaches with whom I am familiar will promote or recommend promotion for players regardless of whether they are relatively new to the club. (My kid came to Alexandria from a different club.) There will be upward mobility. It will become pretty evident for appropriate kids by early June, perhaps earlier. It does take some time for some kids to adapt to the club style and environment, as it does with other clubs.
I am the PP. That is frustrating. My kid is currently where he belongs, but if our roster grows to take kids currently placed on lower teams, that's not going to be much fun because the kids will not get enough playing time. Our roster was already 14-15 for 9 per side. They either need some kids to drop out, or to move some kids down.
They do not generally run large rosters. And they will promote appropriately, whether or not new to club - they don’t promote for the sake of promoting. There is inevitably attrition. There is likely to be more attrition in the current environment. I would wait to see what actually happens before getting frustrated.

good point. Anyone heard from MSI?
Can you imagine how interesting it would be if several travel teams (and parents) started their own MSI Rec teams?
