The PP with one last thought! Having the full fertility work-up for both partners done here at a clinic here in DC/MD/VA is useful. The labs, initial AFC ultrasound, and semen analysis should be covered under most insurance plans. Once you know that information then you are in a good position to make an informed decision about going abroad and what services you need.

This is the PP again, if you can take enough time off to get there before your period starts for baseline testing and get the stimulation drugs in the EU that will save so much. A savings of thousands of dollars. Same drugs.

There is a poster who was pleased with her Barbados experience.

I went to Warsaw. It was great for me, but I have friends there. You have to be very independent. They don’t explain a lot or hold hands in Poland. I think some of the other clinics are more American-style.

I went to Europe and they absolutely required all the same testing that is required here including full STD panel, Hep B, Hep C, HIV.

OP, do your research. You can get excellent service in Europe, all the same technology and materials at a fraction of a cost. Yes, it's true you cannot sue malpractice same way you could in the US. But decide for yourself if the potential ability to sue is worth extra 25 grand.

My cousin went to Czech republic for Egg donor and she had a horrible experience, no pregnancy and she contracted Hep C. Most clinics abroad do not follow infectious disease screening according to the FDA so it is risky. At least if my cousin had been in the U.S she could have sured the clinic, but you have no options for that abroad.

That's the reason we went abroad..sorry it doesn't seem to be an option anytime soon.

The no credit card thing must be new- I paid for shared risk in January at SGF and split it among credit cards (including a no interest one for 15 months). I paid over the phone.

Their financial department is terrible and I complained so they reassigned me to the supervisor of my previous counselor. Might be worth a try asking for that. The credit card thing just doesn't sound right.

Also, FWIW, the meds can still be paid by credit card. Also, they quoted me something similar for the meds, but I ended up paying more like half of that (though I haven't yet done my FET cycle).

Are you qualified for the Synchrony study? I'm doing that and it pays for the PGS testing. If you're eligible, seems like a good idea.

Also, I'll echo other people on the peace of mind for the shared risk. I'm paused on things because of COVID, but very well may have to cycle again, and it's such a relief knowing I won't have to pay for that. But that said, something I didn't think about really before signing up for shared risk was that you have to pay for PGS each time you test. I know some people prefer to do multiple retrievals, then send off a single batch for testing, which you can't do with shared risk (but you can maybe do with multi cycle discount). At any rate, I'd talk with your doctor/look at the financial paperwork on that. I think age & # of kids you want matters a lot in those decisions.

SGF is the WORST.
Shop around, we started there and ended up with a child from DF. They were such a better experience overall.

I wonder if SGF no credit card policy is just temporary? I was there today for bloodwork and they said only cash or check because they don’t want multiple people touching the credit card key pad.
