Cambodia was alright. We went before the big hotel was built by Angkor Wat, when you could climb all over it. It sucks compared to Vietnam and Thailand, though.

Now, a place I'd love to go again is Meteora. Went in spring a coupla years ago when everything was in bloom and went to the monasteries and had the best wine and souvlaki.

Pine Creek Gorge in PA, also known as the Grand Canyon of PA, We went on the way to Niagara Falls last summer, It was beautiful. We did a hike and stood at an overlook looking down at the valley and could see huge birds just gliding on the wind but they were the same height as we were and so close, Its just gorgeous. My kid (7) remembers this more fondly that Niagara Falls.

LA is all about going to the right neighborhoods- interesting street vibes, great food, a super diverse city. If you stick to the traditional tourist spots only you will get annoyed and frustrated by the crowds and traffic, and get none of the benefits of a big vibrant city.

Hands down, Disneyworld. Spouse and I had lowest expectations (in fact dreaded going) but an opportunity came up to go to Orlando inexpensively so we figured we would check the box. Wound up being incredibly fun for all, a very memorable family trip, and I have new respect for the running/organization of the Disney empire.

Pancake Rock on New Zealand’s South Island at sunset. The waves roll in off the Tasmanian Sea and come under the rocks and then explode up in geysers sounding like jet plans. Truly breathtaking. The rocks themselves look like towers of pancakes. Google it.

Vietnam. I've traveled all over and hoped I would like it, but did not expect how much I LOVED it.

It just has an incredible vibe to it. It feels far, far away from home, but the tourist infrastructure is good. The food was incredible. The mountains and beaches were beautiful. We did a homestay in the mountains in Sapa. Had some wonderfully lazy days in Hoi An. Loved the energy of Hanoi. It felt like a true adventure. And the hospitality every place we went was great.

Yellowstone. To be honest I was expecting, well, some mountains and bison, ha. But it's something totally beyond that -- it is magic -- unlike any place I've ever been. Blown away.

Bryce Canyon. I had been to the Grand Canyon several times before, and while it was beautiful, I didn't have that "WOW" feeling that other people talk about. So when we got to Bryce I was surprised that it just took my breath away. Hands down one of the coolest places I've ever been.

Similar to the Disney posters, I had low expectations for Atlantis, but it was a great family trip. We went in August and I timed the cruise ship arrivals to mostly avoid crowds. The place is pretty impressive and we had a ton of fun in the pools.

Iceland - DH and I went before it got crazy popular, rented a car, and drove around the entire country. We had the most magnificent places all to ourselves with not a soul in sight. we are avid travelers, and it remains a hard trip to top..I feel like we can never go back because it won't measure up to the first experience!
