The middle schoolers I teach can’t manage it. They could not stop touching each other in March.

But none of the others are 8 hours of close confinement five days a week. My child will not be returning to daycare for that reason alone. It’s far too much close exposure for far too long every day.


Confinement? I mean most parents do frown on their children running away, so there is that. But it’s not exactly Riker’s Island at most places.


Yeah, really.

PP, are you aware of the hours of the typical American school day? It's from roughly 8:30-3:30. Add in the fact that most kids do aftercare of some sort and you easily get to 8 hours of what you'd call "confinement."

Kids are still going to eat, drink, play at school which makes the mask wearing not really practical. I think the more pertinent question is will parents of kids be required to wear masks at work going forward?
