Cool. OP said "grocery store run." Guidance is to skip the grocery store runs right now. Just stay inside. This is what we've prepared for.

Who is "we"?

Last time I checked there is no need to stockpile food. That's just dumb.

+1 I haven’t heard this guidance either. And I don’t stockpile food.

The whole thing is insane. I could stock up and get us through 2-4 weeks if needed and I knew it would end. Problem is? It keeps getting worse though I do think we in DC are coming into the thick of it. But I go every week and buy a lot more. I plan to go on Tuesday and buy as much as I can in hopes that I can avoid it for 10-14 days.

Don't be stupid about it...but you have to get food. To the person go every other day - you are selfish - you don't need to go every other day to get fresh. Things will keep for up to a week. Grow a garden if you need that. Once a week...if you have a teenage boy is needed!!

Nothing is selfish about going every other day (in reality I probably go every 2 days). I don't need tons and tons of food sitting in my house when I'm I'm literally a block from a grocery store.

I also like to poop and be healthy so I'm not eating out of a pantry or freezer.

+1 I’m also shopping for my parents. So I’m going once a week now.

I walked to Giant this afternoon. Picked up beef stew meat and jello.

Tomorrow I'm hitting Lotte on my way home from work ( have to swing by the office and grab my extra monitor) and will get ginger and see if they have anything random I want to try.

Stocked up today, so I won't need a major run again for a week.

This thread is unbelievable.

I haven’t heard that? Who gave the order?

Today I went shopping and got:
La Croix
Chicken
Green onions
Fennel
Chips
Butter

Who cares? It's stupid, unless you are obese, diabetic, sick, or old.

Yet you won't hesitate to have a shopper go for you. You want to be outraged - skip your groceries all together for two weeks.

No, I don't have a shopper going for me. I'm actually a shopper myself. I'm staying inside and skipping the grocery stores -- like they are advising us to do. We have enough to survive. Would I go to the store under normal circumstances to pick up what we like? Of course. But there are not normal circumstances. We have been stocking up for this -- this time right now. This is it. It's the time to stay inside and don't go shopping. Otherwise what was the point of all that preparation? Use what you have in your kitchen. Don't go out for Amarillo paste. Good grief.

“The next two weeks are extraordinarily important,” said Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House’s coronavirus response coordinator. “This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe and that means everybody doing the six-feet distancing, washing their hands.”

“There will be a lot of death,” Mr. Trump said at the White House, where he and other American officials depicted some parts of the United States as climbing toward the peaks of their crises, while warning that new hot spots were emerging in Pennsylvania, Colorado and Washington, D.C.

I go every other day. Just like I always have. I'm not eating pantry food or frozen food unless the world is truly about to collapse.

I'm sorry, what the heck kind of mixed messaging advice is this?

The big test will come in the next couple weeks, said Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator.

"The next two weeks are extraordinarily important," Birx said. "This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe, and that means everybody doing the six-feet distancing, washing your hands."

The next two weeks are important -- WHERE? NYC or Nebraska? This is a large country.

Her advice is the whole US should not go to the grocery store or the pharmacy? And doing the "6 foot distancing and washing hands"??

If we are on national lockdown SAY THAT. But to not go to the pharmacy for necessary medication for two weeks is a HUGE BIG DEAL and should not be advised in the same sentence as "wash your hands".

I thought we were supposed to get shopping down to every 2 weeks if possible. Some of us were preparing to get by 2 weeks without shopping, and are nearing the end of that and need to restock. "Make sure you go every 2 weeks AND have an additional, untouched fortnight's worth of food in case we move the goalposts one random day" is not the guidance i was preparing under. Nor do i have the space.

That said, we can stretch until Friday, but at that point we'll be out of everything my kid will eat, especially perishables. So milk, fruit, bread (I found bugs in my flour today so i won't be making my own)....

Doesn't a human still walk around the store in place of you?

Flour
Chocolate, as in gourmet candy to nosh on
Fresh veggies
Fresh bread from bakery

To be honest, we don't REALLY need to go, but with curbside, it's an excuse to get out of the house.
