Seattle. It felt like all there was to do was just walk around and see neighborhoods. The tourist attractions, save for the Space Needle, weren't that great.

It was super tacky and felt like being in Florida-in the worst way.

Which part did you go?

Guanacaste is beautiful and feels pretty secluded and remote. We flew into the airport there and stayed in the Andaz/Four Seasons Properties.

Wow really? Where did you go? I lived there almost twenty five years ago for a year and it was gorgeous.

What in particular did you not like?

PP here. The crowds, the commercialism, the heat, the disgusting food, and the prices! My family and I just aren't Disney people. We'll stick to our beach and city vacations.

I went to northern Italy and purposely avoided major cities because they didn't sound appealing. I wanted the authentic neighborhoods surrounding all the lakes & couldn't have had a better experience. Hardly any tourists, crowds & just stunning beauty. I loved it. It didn't feel inefficient one bit. If fact I drove the entire time and came back to the US wondering why the hell we don't have roundabouts everywhere. No intersections to have accidents at!!

I’ve heard this from someone else too.

I wasn’t “wowed” by Sanibel Island but I also wasn’t really expecting to be “wowed”.... ? Do people actually hype it up? I went in expecting a very relaxing, low-key beach vacation and that’s what I got.

I wasnt amazed by San Francisco, personally. Soooo many homeless people. Dirty.

Sanibel Is- sleepy and hotel room was too small to be comfortable
Smokey Mts- doesn’t compare to mountains out west
Florence Italy- mobbed with tourists (this was 2003) and got tired of seeing same renaissance art

I actually loved the river boat cruise along the seine in Paris! I went with my husband, it was in the evening, freezing in February but the lights shimmered and we just had a great time! No screaming kids...prolly helped!!

Now something I didn’t like...I’m going to say my experience in London. I had parts I loved but some really awful parts- getting stuck during rush hour with a wave of black suits and my feet lifting off the ground, getting my face smashed into buckingham palace at changing of the guard being the most notable experiences lol. I’m willing to give it a 2nd try...it’s been 11 years and I’m not 21.

Most places are inefficient, to keep the tourists out. You don't go to Italy for their "efficiency" you go for the people, food, scenery......

There is a ton of graft in the "PIGS" countries. Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain

My brother in law was concently solicitated for kickbacks when he gave small contracts on the military base in Italy. He had to tell people repeatedly that the US
govt pays by check and that he could not pay them in cash. This was constant.
