I think 3 days in Tokyo first then on to Australia!

What would you suggest for a 2 weeks Australia itinerary?
Of course, there are loads of options, and the season matters. We went in the second half of March. 5 nights in Sydney; flew to Cairns, shuttle to Port Douglas (7 nights), back to a Sydney Airport Hotel (1 night ) for flight back to USA. Be sure to add in travel time. I should mention that we used points for international first class on the outbound. Best sleep ever on a plane (individual pods). Coming home was economy class.
What is there to do in Port Douglas?
