Why do they call it that? There's not such thing. I'm pretty sure you can get in trouble with Collegeboard if you give the AP label to classes that aren't audited to cover the AP curriculum properly.
Probably because the course has been expanded this year to include AP Precalculus?

I think they are overstating the difficulty level of the math course. They do not get calculus until 11th grade, so only some precalculus topics are covered. A decent amount of trigonometry, but not deep into all the identities.
AOS maths is definitely extremely rigorous, specially for 9th graders from middle school.

I think they are overstating the difficulty level of the math course. They do not get calculus until 11th grade, so only some precalculus topics are covered. A decent amount of trigonometry, but not deep into all the identities.
