The White House is going to come out with guidelines that everyone over the age of 2 needs to wear a mask (or since nobody can find them- cover their mouth nose with a bandana or scarf). Hard to play soccer that way.... not looking good, folks.

It seems the scientists, microbiologists, doctors, nurses and so on need to read this forum as its clear to me the experts in this thread can forecast the future. Such clarity and vision. Its amazing what being a stay at home dad or an IT guy or a dog walker can do for you insight to fighting a never before seen outbreak. I'll be coming to DCUM for my updates news and direction from now on

Next year (2021). There will be failed attempt to get things going in fall 2020. Then there will be outbreaks, and people will get nervous (understandably) and pull their kids out.

Things won't be back to normal until there is a safe, effective vaccine. And it won't be until summer 2021 that we have that, at the earliest.

That is going to be the peak in a lot of the DMV. They will not start up in the peak of devastation.

VA won’t release projections because they doN’t know what they will do for this area because it shows there is going to be a severe shortage of respirators and hospital beds in the local area. They are looking at hotels and other places they can convert to rooms/beds.

Why guess? Do you have something else your kids need to do that requires you to be certain it does not start until Spring 2021? Unless you are a coach or a club, it is pointless to try to guess when it happens. The variance on these estimates will be nuts.

+1. If full-scale testing ramps up well before full-scale vaccine availability, can see parents having to repeatedly certify their children have negative test-results (up-to-date) or immunity. Same with getting parents back to their workplace too.


There are articles in the NYT and WSJ (from today and yesterday) suggesting that 30% of people who are positive are testing negative, so testing needs to get a lot more accurate...apparently, though, viral respiratory testing has always been notoriously difficult (no personal knowledge/experience, just from listening to an interview with a vaccine researcher/MD).

Because of Spring 2020 was cancelled, clubs will not charge any fees to families that had already covered their fees for the full 19/20 program. Yeah, you're right, but their lies have been repeated by nations and organizations that are supposed to be reputable (e.g. the WHO tweeting on Jan 14th that there was no human-to-human transmission.)
