We aren't paying tuition, but our spot is not guaranteed upon return. However, my child's class isn't full, so I'm not worried, and don't want the pressure of sending him back before we are ready, so just gave up our spot.

Ours initially said they’d work with us, then backpedaled. Now they expect full tuition for April. Offering 15% off for May. And if they get their payroll loan MIGHT offer to give discounted tuition to financial hardship struck families. I’ve been out of work since March and likely won’t be able to work until June. It’s unclear whether ill qualify for unemployment. We want to be able to pay, but it is going to be very tight if not possible. Devastated.

What rubbed me the wrong way was the before/after care laid off the lowest paid workers and kept the senior staff (ie the highest paid) then proceeded to thank parents for “donating” tuition without ever asking whether it was ok, giving any other options, and not acknowledging and being honest about the situation. I would have gladly paid a reduced amount but their oblivious approach was the last straw and we unenrolled.

It would really help if people named their preschools. I'll go first:

We're at Goddard School in Gaithersburg. The most they're offering is switching to a part-time slot (so about a 30% discount) but not clear if you're guaranteed a FT slot when things go back to normal.

30% discount for parents who are no longer sending their kids (still open and serving essential workers in smaller class sizes - they pay full price). Keeps all teachers employed and fully scheduled.

We are not required to pay. I was quite worried about the teachers at first but then they said the center was getting accredited for essential personal so the teachers still secure their job and pay. I’m quite happy for everyone

Our center isn't offering a discount, but they are letting people out of their contracts with no 2 week wait needed/no penalty. They said people can re-register with no new registration fee needed.

They asked 50% of families to keep paying if they can to keep the center open and the staff employed/paid. My husband and I are happy to do so, as our jobs are secure and we feel very fortunate to be in a position to continue making full payments.

Ours gave 30% discount. There was no option to opt-out sadly.

10%. I think a reduction of 25% - 50% would be fair. I think the staff is paid $11 or $12 per hour so I think they would be better off on unemployment.
