My kid is autistic and under the care of a nutritionist for failure to gain weight. I would absolutely go to the store to make sure we had her safe foods in stock, and I would buy 1.5 as much as I think I need to last until the next time I go to the store. It wouldn't even be a question for us.

But you might not be in our same position.

How "picky"? I have two picky eaters that have gotten a little more flexible with therapy but will also choose to not eat for long periods if no safe foods are available. I do make trips to the store to stay stocked up on those items, so one big shopping for everyone every two weeks and then one small shopping the following week for special items.

The special shopping is usually quick. I wouldn't do it if anyone in my family had symptoms, though. Then I would ask a neighbor to grab me some the next time they went.

Re your question, it’s actually safer for all if most people stayed home and let a group of delivery people do the job. This is what Wuhan ended up enforcing.
