I've lived in different parts of Alexandria City (Del Ray, Old Town) for a decade and violent crime is rare. I feel very safe.
Pentagon City in Arlington seems to have some recent issues with carjackings and the like. But that's a very recent thing.

And super white.

I'm like you, I like an HOA where my house doesn't open onto a street that is used by well anybody. I feel safer, and I realize that I may not be.
Remember, you have to literally live there. It's where you will wake up in the morning and where you will go to sleep at night. It's where you will go when the world has its way with you.
You want to look forward to coming home and enjoy being there.
There is nothing wrong with deciding that Arlandria isn't right for you.

I believe the carjackings were all at the mall, which is now closed due to the virus. Also, a suspect (from MD) was taken into custody. Outside of the mall, Pentagon City and surrounding area haven’t had a surge in crime.

What was it like living in old town? I’d love to live off of or on lee street/king street area.
OP here. I'd love to know that, too. I'm so accustomed to a townhouse in a community rather than having the front door right on Royal or North Washington St.
