OP here. Yes, we have been doing the following routine for the last 2 weeks:

1) Dr. spouse comes home, takes off clothes in mudroom. Clothes go into trash bag to go right into washer on hot water, only wash spouse's clothes by themselves, two washes.
2) Spouse washes hands
3) Spouse showers
4) Spouse puts on clean clothes and surgical mask
5) Spouse wears mask and stays 6 feet away from all of us
6) Spouse sleeps in own room/has own bathroom
7) Spouse goes to bed for the night at 8 pm because he's so stressed and exhausted these days

OP it sounds like your DH is exhausted and overworked - and is therefore reacting more severely to what he anticipates is going to happen. Your title was a bit misleading. I was expecting for you to say that the dead are beginning to pile up, which is not the case YET.

My spouse is a nursing home administrator. Every day we talk about the precautions and the incredible fear that Covid-19 will hit their residents. I hear how families are mistreating staff when they are told of the new visiting policies (end of life patients only can have visitors and even that is quite limited). I hear how they are trying to come up with ways to store bodies if they start to experience deaths as a result. I hear how they are terrified of cross contamination from staff that take shifts in other facilities. And, probably like your husband, OP, they have been preparing long before anyone even admitted there would be a crisis.

At this point, we've separated. I have the kids and we are not staying together. At least that way, we aren't risking being responsible for sharing the virus. Even with social distancing, there are risks.
