Wishful thinking on his part. Raising a warning in mid January would have sent a shudder through the markets and that is the basis for his re-election campaign. Now he simply denies he wasn’t on top of it saying he knew it was a pandemic before others. It’s remarkable that he can lie and say everything in the past is fake news. But his supporters believe it.

Np here. I used to work on biosecurity and pandemic preparedness policy (10 years ago). There is nothing about the spread of this novel coronavirus and the weakness in our healthcare infrastructure that wasn't known more than a decade ago.

Ten years ago, people were working on strengthening our ability to deal with a pandemic like this one. Ten years ago, this was the one area of homeland security weakness identified by the 9/11 report that hadn't seen much improvement.

Shorting the market is betting the market will go down, so in addition to selling stocks at a high, you can also "loan" shares to sell and then buy them back when the market tanks. That is what happened in "Trading Places" if you didn't understand how the Dan Akroyd and Eddie Murphy charcters got rich while bankrupting the Dukes.
