It's because I'm young that I have the energy to do tons of Pineterest stuff with my kids. If you're old and too tired to do anything with your kids and that's why you let them play video games and eat McDonalds and candy, that's you.

I agree. I am a mom of HS kids and they still have stuff to do. But, keep it light and chill. You do not have to achieve much more than keeping them healthy and un-stressed. If these kids are hanging out virtually and playing video games online - cut them some slack. They are at an age when they understand the grim realities even more.

I do miss the old-fashioned snow days, before telework, before online schooling, where we were forced to slow down and take it easy.

Op here - sorry you read it as such. I remember the pressure when my kids were younger and all we had was Baby Center. There are about 10,000 voices telling parents HOW to do this. I wanted to post one voice letting them know it is all gonna be ok. Parenting is a marathon not a sprint.

LOL! I loved that too. I actually would like for my kids to be out trying to do that, rather than inside on hour 592 of Fortnite. Or Netflix. As their Vitamin D levels quickly drop and rickets set in.

Not defensive, I am an old mom. You make a good point I just think anytime you start telling folks that you have it all figured out and know better how to do something, you sound really condescending.

Oh man I am so grateful I read this. My heart rate has literally been rising at the thought of homeschooling and keeping the kids on track. But you’re right, in the grand scheme of things this will be a blip.

I've already decided to ease up on screentime rules, for all our sanity. I want them to remember this as a fun time.
