Why? https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/01/AR2010030103345.html and https://www.americamagazine.org/content/all-things/washington-archdiocese-and-same-sex-marriage Basically these old articles state that they don’t offer spousal benefits because they don’t want to be forced to have to (THE HORROR) insure same sex couples.
Who made the decision? Cardinal Wuerl, who would rather protect pedophiles than ensure that families of Archdiocese employees have decent healthcare coverage.
Now what? Our family will have 2 insurance plans, with 2 deductibles and 2 OOP limits. (This was the least worst option for us. It won’t break us but it’s a pain.) I’m disappointed that my spouse works for such a hypocritical organization and I hope he jumps ship soon.
What do DC Catholics think of this policy? To me it’s utterly reprehensible, but my mother (a lapsed Catholic) says it’s pointless to fight the church because they’ll chop off our heads and burn us at the stake anyway (Obviously she’s VERY lapsed and I was raised an Atheist so religious dogma is not my strong suit).

Don’t know about their insurance, but their charitable work is amazing and has saved many, many lives in developing countries.

You do realize that both can be true.
Some Catholics can help an immense amount of people AND they work very hard to deny health care to certain people... an immense amount of people.
Just like they hide and harbor rapists and lobby politicians to protect rapists AND they feed the homeless.
They aren’t denying to an “immense” amount of people and we both know it. But you’re a repulsive hater, so I’m not going to waste any more time on you.
Yes they do. Historically the Catholic Church works with politicians to close heath clinics. It’s very well documented.
I don’t hate Catholics, I am Catholic holic. I’m also not blind to the changes that need to happen in the church.
Are you Catholic? Are you aware of how they lobby Congress and other politicians? Do you truly understand what your donations support?
You need to educate yourself and fight for the Cstholic church to follow Jesus’s teachings instead of making money their false god.
Got it. You're not Catholic. And you call yourself a "Catholic aholic" instead of a bigot. I'd have to agree that you're obsessed....
