I can’t say anything about venues, but confirming Hemibry’s food is fantastic!

PP again. I wanted to add that the Lodge includes the tables and chairs and Hemibry includes the linens and plates, glasses, etc. You can buy your own alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks.

The National Arboretum lets you host weddings there. It would depend on the time of year. You'd need good weather.

Strathmore is very attractive, and their caterer is great. Don’t know if things have changed, but 13 years ago, their prices were thousands higher than for small venues and historic hotels in DC.

Anonymous wrote:Brunch or lunch weddings are cheaper because they are shorter and people don’t drink as much.
Find a pretty location (like National Harbor), find a restaurant that can accommodate 100 people and have brunch.
Plan to spend at least $50pp + gratuity and taxes. You might be able to find places that can do it for $35-40pp++, but budget for $50 (closer to $60-65 once you gratuity and taxes).
Don’t do dancing.

Please know that I will get drunk and dance at your wedding regardless of the time of day.

Cane on to suggest Woodend (the Audubon Naturalist Society’s mansion and sanctuary in Kensington, MD).

We got married there 11 years ago! Great venue.
Here are my tips: buy your own alcohol, if you have drinkers! This is actually how we ended up in Maryland, because their liquor laws permit this (DC and VA do not, which means your catering bill is exponentially higher, if you want to provide a good amount of booze).
We needed far fewer flowers for our fall wedding because the foliage outside was gorgeous (we were married in one of the groves).
We got married on a Friday night, which was much cheaper (though, yes, I get that it was less convenient for guests).

It's not that close to the city but Savoir Faire catering in Loudoun does a really nice job. They work with a lot of the wineries out in western Loudoun.
